WCR National Summit
Chicago, IL
How do you
market to women? This is the question that was
addressed on March 20-22 at the WCR
National Summit in Chicago. President Lynn
Valintis and Cecily Tippery represented the WCR
Delta Chapter at the conference and found out
first hand the intricacies of focusing on
marketing to women. Here they share with us a
few of the highlights.
The 2 ½ day conference consisted
of non-stop intense training. The session on
"Women Who Mean Business" focused on the
critical factors a woman must get to be serious
about if she is going to be successful in her
business. The session "Generational Marketing to
Women" got right to the point with countering
the slowing down of the decision making process.
"Gender Trends" provided the perfect answer for
building sales and profit in an informative and
amusing review of the ages. "The Seven Mistakes
to avoid in personal marketing" and "A
Competitive Advantage; Positioning Yourself in
Today's Marketplace" completed the scope of
learning.
To learn more just ask Lynn or Cecily.

April 16th
Caps Oak Street Bar & Grill

The 2nd Annual WCR Delta Chapter Martini
Madness was a smashing success! Six
sponsors put forth inspiring and
innovative martinis. A fabulous Pasta
Buffet prepared by Caps Oak Street Bar &
Grill and music by the Floor Shakers
enhanced the party.
The Ways & Means committee headed by
Linda Edwards-LoGrasso did a fantastic
job in preparing for this event. To the
extent of thinking in advance to provide
for limousine rides for the martini
manifesto.
Hats off to the winning Martini makers
of the evening,"The Benson Team" with
their "Skittle"-lini creation!
For those of you who would like to
re-create the winning martini at home,
the recipe is below.
Bartenders work fast & furious to
appease the 131 attendees of this
very successful event!

Linda Edwards-LoGrasso and her husband Vito
enjoy their martini of choice in hand
painted martini glasses.
Shirley & Diana network while discussing the
differences of the "Blue Martini" sponsored
by the Pacific Funding Group and the
"Kentucky Martini" sponsored by Tom
Stephens.
Past Delta Chapter WCR Presidents line up to
celebrate with a photo moment. Collectively
they sponsored the "Presidential Martini".
Patty & Wendy agree that the "Immigrant"
Martini sponsored by Bongiorno Termite
Control has some interesting
characteristics. What could they be?
Monica and Sandy smile for the camera
after toasting to a successful spring
and outstanding future with the "Pear
Martini" sponsored by Cecily
Tippery/Coldwell Banker.
Fun, friendships, reinforcing the good
around us was a common theme in the
chatter that filled the room during
Martini Madness.
The "Skittle"-tini
1 jigger Hypnotic
1/2 jigger Vanilla Vodka
1/2 jigger Watermelon Pucker
1 jigger 7-up or Sprite
Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker
over ice, shake and strain into a
martini glass.
Created by Aaron Benson for WCR 2nd
Annual Martini Madness.

...March and April
were busy months for the Delta Chapter
of the Women's Council of Realtors.
Victoria Williams Turner and Gus Kramer,
speakers at the Business Resource
Meetings (BRM) presented helpful
information with flair & humour. In
March our chapter received notification
that we've been awarded the Gold award.
This is quite an impressive acheivement
and your board has the intention of
making this an on going benchmark year
to year.
Chapter members were busy taking
part in the mulit-chapter forum held
in Dublin, the National Summit in
Chicago and the popular 2nd annual
Martini Madness event.
It looks like the Women's Council of
Realtors knows how to combine
success, education, networking and
fun with a professional business
edge.
May will greet us with the Top
Performers BRM. Together we'll learn
from these thriving survivors. June
not only brings us half way through
2009, we'll take time to evaluate
our goals and strengthen lead
generation skills.
Be sure to be at the upcoming events
and bring a compatriot. Learn and be
inspired by the collective energy of
the WCR Delta Chapter.
WCR
VISION

Victoria Williams Turner
says Survive and Thrive!
March 13th
BRM

Outstanding motivational speaker
Victoria Williams Turner
enlightened us at the March BRM
with her purposeful and humour
packed references to lighting
fires to see our way through the
recovery. "We get stuck in
survival mode by not changing to
the circumstances that surround
us." Victoria asked, "Are you
thinking that if we can just get
back to the market we had three
years ago, we'd be fine? "The
future is not our past!"
Victoria added, "Are you stuck
with fear, anxiety and
confusion? These are emotional
reactions to change and the
desire to control the
circumstances that we are in."
Victoria's suggestion? "Gotta be
willing to put some red beans on
top of your rice!" She
encouraged everyone to readjust
to the changes that occur
throughout this recession.
Remember that GE, Disney, HP,
and Microsoft all started in a
down economic time.
To make this shift, Ms. Turner
instructed all to sharpen our
direction and widen our career
path. She said, "Put on the
mentality of a thriving person
and say, I will move forward!".
"Getting into the thriving mode
means taking a look at your
vision. Is it one of a thriving
business? Do you have the
skills, resources and incentives
necessary to fulfill your
vision? How thorough is your
action plan in getting to your
vision? Most companies can
survive with you in survival
mode when you move into a
thriving mode, you and the
company win."

MARCH
MEMBER
OF THE MONTH
Sandy Strobel
Keller Williams Realty

Fun, committed, genuine, devoted,
patient, not one to sit on the
sidelines, getting the job done and done
well; this is the image that comes to
mind when our March Member of the Month,
Sandy Strobel was announced.
Sandy is completely engaged in life. She
loves to bicycle, workout, wakeboard,
cook, hang out with friends and delight
in embracing time with her greatest joy
in the world, her children Jack, Brett
and Rachel. Active in her church and in
her community, her genuine character is
of great value to those who come in
contact with Sandy.
As the Director of First Impressions at
the Antioch Keller Williams office, she
excelled. Then in 2008, Sandy's first
year in the business, the Keller
Williams International Office presented
her with a Bronze Award for gross
commission income. Her first year as an
agent, in a difficult market - is quite
an accomplishment. Sandy serves as our
Delta Chapter WCR By Laws Chair and can
be found pitching in regularly to make
certain we are the best chapter we can
be.
Congratulations Sandy Strobel, our March
Member of the Month.

Gus Kramer
You Can Run, But You Cannot Hide

Gus Kramer, County Assessor identifies
himself and his staff as the local arm
of equilization, hired to treat everyone
fairly. Using humour and stories of his
own past, Gus spoke on the high
frustration level of the 80% of
homeowners in upside down mortgages.
"There are many ways to help people
right now. Agents can be the deliverer
of positive information." From home
property transfers to decreased property
tax to a refund of overpaid taxes and
realistic breakouts of costs on
improvements, Gus was informative and
encouraging.
Gus Kramer can be reached
at 925-313-7400.

APRIL
MEMBER
OF
THE MONTH
Kim Revel
Sunset Mortgage

It was a complete surprise as our
Member of the Month came forward to
accept the award for April. As the
Awards and Recognition Chair Kim
Revel is usually the one to bestow
the monthly honor on the recipient.
Not so this time, Kim. This month
the honor is yours!
Kim is the oldest of 3 sisters, each
of which adore her as their fearless
leader. Originally from Schnectady,
New York she migrated west with her
family as a young girl. Friends and
Family shared many of Kim's
achievements including building a
unique telecommunications and
supplemental labor company with her
father and spearheading a program to
allow moms to bring their infants to
work with them for the first 6 to 9
months.
Her boss commented that Kim is a
team player and a huge asset for
Sunset Mortgage. "She is 100% heart
and hard worker; dedicated and
devoted with a strong desire to be
honest and forthright."
One more tidbit of information about
Kim, she is a big fan of Hot Tamales
and brownies! Congratulations Kim as
we honor you as the April WCR Member
of the Month!

March
31st

Several WCR members carpooled to the

(fourth from left back) was the

engaging speaker, energy penetrated
the room.

A fast and furious "speed-dating"

hone in on their networking skills.
Here, Diana Esias (left) puts the
skills to their best advantage right
away.
The Business Forum VIII is just one
of the many opportunities that WCR
